My experience in nepal with monk for a month was life changing. We visited amazing places like The Great Stupa of Boudhanth which is one of the most important places of pilgrimage for the Buddhist. We also visited the spiritual Bagmati River where we witness a very public Hindu funeral with their long established rituals of burning the body that is then swept into the river. Being someone who was very new to spirituality this program was a great stepping stone, it lead me to meet some of the most amazing people I have ever met. It's also taught me some great life lessons and has sparked a passion for me to continue my journey on this spiritual path. Thank you Monk For A Month.
I loved monk for a month! I met the most amazing like minded spiritual people. It opened my mind up to a whole new world, I highly recommend it :)
The Monk for a Month program was a tour with difference. The highlight for me was spending 10 days in a Monastery - loved the Buddhism teachings and improving my meditation skills. The second highlight was the wonderful people on tour. There was an instant connection between us because we were all there for a specific purpose, for a spiritual journey. To be able to share such a journey with like-minded people was special and enhanced the experience further. I’ve never such experienced friendship and support on other tours. Plus the care and attention from the tour organisers was also fantastic.
This was an entirely amazing trip. Under the guidance of our knowledgeable facilitators, we were able to meet with Rastafarian elders and musicians and participate in their worship. We traveled through the lush countryside and lunched beside beautiful lakes and atop mountaintops commanding breathtaking views. Ethiopia has a deeply spiritual culture and incredibly friendly, joyous people, and I'm delighted to have made their acquaintance.
Ethiopia cointinues to unfold in such a beautiful and mystical way, in the most natural sense you can feel the vibrations and take hold of something really in this really sacred place, You need come taste this, cause seeing is believing but feeling is even better.
My trip to Nepal has been awakening to say the least. The team at volnepal and gap year adventures put together an amazing itinerary. I was thoroughly impressed that they were able to handle a change in logistics to appease group members so quick and efficiently. Nepal as well was so multifaceted- from spiritual meditation to trekking adventures. Definitely a trip that I'd both recommend and look back on.
Rasta Roots.........words to describe it, Vibes, so cool, encompassing. One Love, completely authentic. Soul Stuff, challenging, inspiring, discovering. Blessings, absolutely privileged to have been invited to experience such an astounding, life-changing event! The people, places, worship. Ethiopia I am returning, cradle of humanity, Jah bless! Amazing. Absolutely amazing on so many levels, on so many planes. Spiritually, emotionally.. personal development. I have just learnt so much about myself and Cambodia. It's a beautiful country, everybody should come here! Everybody needs this experience, it's just too good.
Monk for a Month experience has somehow altered the way I interact with the world because it was an important part in altering the way I interact with myself. In learning & unlearning, in silent awareness & conscious conversation, in stripping back layers of 'Self & other', in living another lifestyle completely removed from my own, in welcoming strangers & warm-hearted devotees, on the highest place, on the tallest mountain I've ever stood. In everything I experienced in the valley, little facets of my disposition would surface, or disappear, or bend, or break. You know that old cliche, 'all suffused in truth still', 'To change the world we must first change ourselves'. Well Monk for a Month was an enlightening adventure in the way it aided me with this.
I booked for Cambodia's Monk for a Month pilot program, presented by Ayana Journeys and World Weavers in September 2015. I had very few expectations but I suspect that even if I had many, the trip would still have surpassed them all. It was a truly meaningful journey through Cambodia by our 'then tour guide', 'now friend, Yut'. We learnt about Cambodia's history and its present state while being immersed in Buddhist teachings and conversation. I made lifelong friends on the journey, which was really inevitable considering the type of personality that one would expect to be drawn to this kind of program. This was not a holiday, it was not glitz and glamour all the time, it was a real journey of discovery of the country, the daily lives of the Cambodian people, Buddhism and myself. At times this was a little inconvenient but I loved it!! #highlyrecommended
I took part in the monk for a month.program in India 2015. This journey was beyond anything i imagined it to be. For a whole month you are led to some of the worlds most energetic places and cross paths with wise learned Buddhists for an.exchange of.culture and philosophy. Whether you are looking for a religious or spiritual or merely just a unique cultural.experience this program gives it all. Personally this program changed my life in so many ways i cant believe it. From the wonderful host to the amazing home stays, it is a personal journey within a shared community experience.
I think that the program is great, some of the itinerary changed along the way but that was expected, and Shiva and Anish kept everything running smoothly. Being in new environments, learning from other cultures, studying spirituality and putting it all into practice helped me grow as a person. I've picked up life long habits such as meditation, and also have memories that will last a lifetime; like the beautiful scenery, and riding an elephant!
I was looking for an authentic, meaningful experience when I booked Monk for a Month, Nepal. My senses were immediately heightened the moment I arrived in Kathmandu and I knew it would be safe to travel and explore. Fundamentally, the Nepalese are spiritual people and for me the wonderful rich cultural texture and traditions were a highlight.
Peace fellow traveller; I enrolled in the monk for a month program on in September 2015. It was, we were informed, the pioneering trip into Cambodia, and I have to say it was quite an adventure. I do not have enough superlatives in my vocabulary to describe the experience, but that’s not going to stop me from trying. Extraordinary, captivating, educational, life changing. I was mesmerised by the raw beauty of the surrounding of the monastery we stayed at in Oudong. Overwhelmed by the openness and friendliness of our Cambodian hosts. Delighted at the amazing cuisine (I went from an ardent carnivore to card carrying vegetarian after this trip). And to top it all, I was blessed to be accompanied on this journey with so many other interesting pilgrims who I now count among my friends.
